The Walkway and Knot Garden

Running along the southern edge of the nursery the walkway is great for a rest on a hot summer's day.

The walkway again created by ourselves is covered in pan tiles (inspiration taken from a cloister at an abbey) the structure is all made from re-claimed wood.

Passing the herb garden the walkway leads on to the knot garden and borders which were created from 2002 onwards.

The knot was started with santolina (cotton lavender) which proved not to be hardy enough – another frost pocket, So replaced with lonicera & box, which forms part of the small formal gardens here at Stanton Hall.

Herbaceous borders surrounding the knot are designed to be a good reference for people to see how plants develop overtime and grow without competition.

This area also contains our yew row next to our raised veg patch which backs on to the raised pond.
